How to Choose the Right Wired Headwrap for You
Share
You have worn a head wrap before. Tied it, adjusted it, retied it halfway through the evening, and got frustrated. What you were looking for was something that stayed, and something that moved with you without asking for your attention every hour. That is what a structured wired headwrap is built to do.
What Makes It Wired
A wired headwrap keeps the beauty of a traditional wrap and adds something you will not see, but you will feel.
Inside each one is a comfortable slim, flexible shaping wire that follows the curve of your head. You bend it into place once, and the wrap holds its form without constant retying, pinning, or starting over in the mirror.
That structure is what gives you:
- Sculptural bow styling at the front
- Architectural folds and peaks that stay where you put them
- The freedom to move through your day looking composed, intentional, and fully yourself
It works with coils, curls, locs, braids, silk presses, short cuts, and even no hair at all. On the days your hair has other plans, the wire does the quiet work while you do everything else. I have tried for years to do elaborate styles with regular headwraps. But I typically always just end up frustrated.
Wired head wraps however, make it so easy to twist and bend into shape that holds. So no need to do excessive tucking under or having to pin in place.
The Fabrics
Apart from the Luxe's vegan satin lining, all Ackee Tree wired headwraps are made from cotton heritage textiles.
Caribbean madras is the lightest of the types of fabric we carry. It has a soft hand, and so we reinforce the edges with interfaced stability, so you get that same design element. The fabric is vibrantly colored, comes in various prints, and is breathable.
African wax print and Jamaican bandana plaid sit in the lightweight-to-medium weight range, giving them a bit more body and structure at the front without adding bulk. The bold designs for the Kente and Ankara prints are show stoppers. You definitely stand out wearing those prints.
And for the cultural spin, the familiar red and white and blue plaid of the Jamaican bandana, gives a modern spin on a headwrap tradition. Your next International Day at church, school, or work doesn’t have to be boring and you will definitely look differently from others. Pair with one of our skirts for a look that’s all yours.
All three are wearable cultural art. The difference is in how they drape and how they feel against your skin through the day.
Choose Your Size
There is not one right wired headwrap. There is the one that matches how you want to show up that day.
If you love a sleek, everyday look, start with the Regular or Wide. If you are ready for drama and full coverage, step into the Extra Wide — and then into the Luxe, where the wrap becomes the ceremony.
Regular Wired Headwrap — 5" × 40"
A refined, close-to-the-head silhouette. Enough structure to feel intentional, with a slim profile built for workdays, travel days, and under a hat when you are on the move. This is the everyday elevated version of you — unhurried, composed, already there.
Wide Wired Headwrap — 6" × 56"
A little more fabric. A little more presence. The added width and length give you extra volume at the front while keeping the look clean and modern. Perfect when you want your wrap to read as part of the outfit, not the whole story. This is your statement piece for the days when intentional is enough.
Extra Wide Wired Headwrap — 8" × 58"
For when you are ready to be seen. More coverage, more height, more sculptural drama at the front. Ideal for cultural events, special occasions, and any moment that asks you to show up with your whole silhouette. This is the wrap that photographs well and feels even better in person.
Luxe Wired Headwrap — 10" × 65" | Vegan Satin Lined
Our hero. The destination.
At 10 inches wide and 65 inches long, the Luxe is our most dramatic, full-coverage architectural wrap. Designed for the woman who values presence, and whose time is too valuable to spend readjusting.
The inside is lined with friction-free vegan satin that is gentle on coils, curls, and locs, and supports moisture retention for hair health. The outside is artisan madras or Caribbean plaid that does not need an introduction.
The internal shaping wire holds bold, gravity-defying bows that stay crisp from your first meeting to your evening out. Set it once. Leave it.
The Luxe is the one for promotions. Graduations. Milestone birthdays. The cultural celebrations and personal rewards that deserve their own ceremony. It is the one you gift. It is the one she unwraps and already knows.
Designed for Women Who Lead
Ackee Tree pieces are handcrafted in small batches using heritage textiles. Designed to hold their shape and elevate everyday styling.
The women who wear them are not looking for another accessory. They are looking for something that means something — for themselves, or for the woman they are celebrating.
Handcrafted in North Carolina
Every wired headwrap is made by hand in North Carolina in small batches. Not mass-produced. Not warehoused. Cut, sewn, and finished with the care that heritage textiles deserve.
Caring for Your Wrap
Hand wash in cool water with a gentle detergent and lay flat to dry. Keep away from the dryer, as the fabric and the wire both hold better without heat. If the wire shifts from storage, reshape it gently with your hands before wearing. The Luxe vegan satin lining should be hand washed with extra care to keep it smooth and friction-free.
A Note on Children's Sizing
Wired headwraps are designed for ages 13 and up. For children 12 and under, we make non-wired styles in the same heritage textiles: knotted headbands, bow styles on elastic, and fabric scrunchies — so the whole family can coordinate without compromise.
